Ready to add a handcrafted touch to your home? In this beginner-friendly class, you will create a beautiful rope-hung shelf unit and learn the skills to install it at home with confidence using a custom French cleat system.
What you’ll learn:
• How to customize the design to fit your window (you will need to bring your window measurements), or simply follow the pre-determined design.
• How to safely operate a table saw, circular saw, and miter saw to cut your cleat and shelf components.
• Measuring and drilling precise holes for rope suspension.
• Knot-tying techniques for secure, elegant shelf support while using a level.
• How to mount your shelf with a beautiful French cleat system for easy installation.
• Finishing with paint. Choose white paint or blend a custom pastel color.
Build a beautiful, wall-mounted shelf that blends practical woodworking with a chance to practice custom design. The three-tier unit lets sunlight pass through for potted plants and home décor while also serving as a tidy solution for books, knick-knacks, shoes, or storage bins. You’ll finish the course with a fully assembled shelf and the skills to hang it at home with confidence. Please note: this workshop includes two sessions, and you are advised to bring a smock, apron, or paint clothes to the second session to avoid getting paint on your nice clothing. Also note: the plants pictured are not included, but the shelf unit can fit up to 6 11.5" storage cubes!
No prior experience needed. All materials provided. Come ready to measure, saw, drill, tie, and hang! Leave with a finished project!
The materials fee for this class is $35 and is included in the admission cost.
