Emerge Building Construction Trades Exploration Course Orientation
Join Fireweed and Emerge to learn more about an 8 week course on Building Construction Trades. Learn about the program, how to apply, review the building project (building a shed!), and cover eligibility and benefits of the program.
Program details:
What: An 8-week exploration course for Women, Fem, Non-binary, and Transgender individuals interested in a Building Trades career - Earn OSHA 10 Certification for Construction - Build a shed - Connect with people working in the construction sector - Learn about the myriad of craft trades and how to access apprenticeships - Acquire financial support for items such as work boots - Earn money during the training for meeting milestones - NO prior experience required!
When: Classes begin the first Thursday in May and run for 8 weeks on Thursdays and Saturdays (May 2nd through June 22nd 2024).
Where: Training takes place at 2 locations in Minneapolis. Thursday classes: 5:30pm-8:00pm at Emerge Saturday classes: 12:30pm-4:00pm at Fireweed Community Woodshop
Eligibility - Identify as female, fem, non-binary, or transgender - Be 18 years old by start of training - Have high school diploma or GED - Must go through the application/intake process and be accepted into the program ***There are only 10 available spots for this course. The course is free if admitted***
BIPOC, Veterans, Low income individuals, and people over the age of 50 highly recommended to apply. This is a re-entry friendly space.
